Last night was my final sift at University Medical Center, Las Vegas in the Trauma Intensive Care Unit (TICU). I was part of a very small group of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) that could say they have worked in
Nevada’s only Level I Trauma Center. I learned so much in the 11 months I was working per diem. Every shift I was exposed to enormous volumes of information, range of emotions and challenges to my interpersonal skills. I have laughed at coworker’s jokes while I was doing chest compressions and felt my eyes well up when I see how easily life slips away. To say I have grown from my time in the TICU is an understatement. I will miss the team I worked with very much.
